As a former middle school art teacher, I seek to encapsulate the essence of my desk during the height of the 2020 pandemic. My desk is adorned with a miniature laptop and monitor displaying a virtual classroom interface that illustrates the reliance on technology for instruction. Surrounding the computer are cleaning supplies, a mask, and papers. I’m drawn to the idea of capturing moments of significance within the mundane. This piece invites viewers to reflect on the evolving role of teachers in an increasingly digital world.
